- apples
- 2/3 c. water
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 3 red cinnamon candies
- a few drops of lemon juice
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- a dash (1/8 tsp.) salt
- butter
- plum jelly
Directions

1Use hard, tart apples, not Delicious.

2Peel and core them (any desired amount).

3Put water and sugar in saucepan and boil for about 10 minutes, half covered with liquid.

4Place apples in boiling water syrup and cook about 5 minutes.

5Cover apples with the sauce gently over and over with this sauce.

6Repeat until they are tender to the touch of a fork.

7Add about 3 red cinnamon candies to the sauce.

8Add lemon juice.

9Add vanilla and salt. Place 1/4 teaspoon butter in the cavity of each apple when you turn out fire.

10Let stand a few minutes.

11Add 1/2 teaspoon jelly in each cavity of the apples.
