Glazed Nuts

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup white wine or water
  • 4 egg whites, lightly beaten
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 3 tsp. ground spices (see variations)
  • suggestion:
  • Almonds- 8 cups of almonds and 3 tspn Cinnamon
  • Pecans - 8 cups pecan, 2 tspn ground cinnamon and 1 tspn. ground ginger
  • Walnuts - 8 cups walnuts, 1 tspn cinnamon, 1 tspm ground nutmeg, 1/4 tspn ground clove, 1/4 tspn ground allspice and 1/2 tspn ground ginger.

    heat over to 250, spray cooksheet with non-stick spray

    In large bowl combine wine (water) egg whites sugar and salt and whisk until blended.

    Add nuts and spices, toss to coat thoroughly. Spread nuts on cookie sheet, bake 1 hr or until browned and dry - stir occationally to prevent sticking. Cool and store in airtight containers at room temperature.
