Glorified Cabbage

Ingredients

  • 1 medium cabbage, chopped fine
  • 3/4 stick butter
  • 1 onion, chopped fine
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 c. water
  • 1/2 lb. Velveeta cheese, cubed
  • 3/4 c. bread crumbs
  • salt and pepper to taste

    Boil cabbage in salted water until very tender; drain.

    Saute onions in butter until transparent.

    Add cheese and cook over low heat until cheese melts.

    Add soup and water and blend in well, over low heat; add cabbage and mix well.

    Add bread crumbs until mixture is desired consistency; stir in salt and pepper.

    Pour into a 2-quart casserole dish; sprinkle with remaining bread crumbs. Bake at 350° for 20 to 30 minutes or until bubbly hot.
