Good Basic Dough Recipe

- 1 pkg. active dry yeast
- 1/4 c. hot water
- 1 c. lowfat milk, scalded, you want to let this cold before adding
- 1/4 c. sugar
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 1 teaspoon salt (I use a little more salt)
- 3 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 1 egg
Directions

1Soak yeast in hot water for few min.

2Add in lowfat milk, sugar, shortening and salt to yeast.

3Add in 1 1/2 c. of flour.

4Beat well.

5Add in egg and beat well.

6Gradually add in flour to create soft dough.

7Put rest of flour on dough board and knead it in till it is smooth and pliable.

8Place it in a large greased bowl and turn over so top will be greased.

9Cover with wax paper and set where it is hot, not warm, till it doubles in size.

10Knead it down once.

11Then next time it raises.

12Make it into rolls or possibly cinnamon rolls.

13It is a small batch.

14You can double or possibly triple the measurements, everything but the sugar.

15If I triple it, I just use 2 pkgs.
