1/2 teaspoon sugar, plus more for rimming the glass (optional)
3/4 ounce fresh lemon juice
Ice
1 1/2 ounces dark rum, preferably Gosling's
3/4 ounce triple sec
1 lemon twist (optional)

Directions

If desired, moisten the outer rim of a martini glass with the lemon wedge and coat lightly with sugar.

In a cocktail shaker, stir the 1/2 teaspoon of sugar with the lemon juice.

Fill the shaker with ice, add the rum and triple sec and shake well.

Strain into the martini glass and, if desired, garnish with the lemon twist.
