Ingredients

  • 12 egg whites
  • 12 egg yolks
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 quarts brandy
  • 1 pint dark rum
  • 1 quart milk
  • 1 quart heavy cream (lightly whipped)
  • Garnish: nutmeg, grated, to taste

Directions

    Beat the whites until stiff.

    Put aside.

    Beat the yolks until they are light.

    Add gradually the sugar and beat the mixture until it is thick and pale.

    Chill the mixture.

    Beat in slowly the brandy and the rum.

    Add in the milk and the cream, beating constantly with a wire whisk.

    Fold in the egg whites and sprinkle the surface of the punch with the nutmeg for garnish.
