  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 3/8 teaspoon red food coloring

    Drain cherries; save 1 cup liquid.

    Combine dry ingredients in saucepan and liquid.

    Bring to a boil, stirring constantly, then simmer 5 minutes.
