Ingredients
- 1 cake yeast
- 1 1/2 tsp. sugar
- 1 1/2 pt. warm water
- 2 medium potatoes
- 2 tsp. salt
- 4 to 5 c. flour
Directions

1Cook the potatoes and mash.

2Dissolve yeast in warm water.

3Add yeast water to the mashed potatoes along with salt and sugar.

4Mix well; place in a crock and leave it on a warm hearth to rise.

5When mixture has risen almost to the top of crock, begin to add flour until you have a firm dough.

6Let rise until double in size.

7Then knead real good before shaping into loaves.

8Let rise again, then bake at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes, or until broomstraw stuck in comes out free of dough.

9Slice and spread with butter.
