Granny'S Corn Light Bread

- 4 c. plain corn meal
- 3/4 c. sugar
- 1 tsp. dry yeast
- 2 c. buttermilk
- 1/2 c. plain flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 3 Tbsp. shortening
Directions

1Sift all dry ingredients; add buttermilk and mix thoroughly. Melt shortening (or oil).

2Make sure sides of pan are covered lightly with oil.

3Pour remaining oil into corn bread mixture and blend.

4Bake in loaf pans at 375° for 55 minutes.

5Especially good with barbecue.
