Ingredients
- 2 cups oatmeal
- 12 cup flour
- 12 cup unsweetened flaked coconut
- 14 cup flax seed
- 14 cup wheat germ
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 14 teaspoon salt
- 13 cup honey
- 14 cup peanut butter
- 3 tablespoons applesauce
- nuts (optional)
- dried fruit (optional)
- chocolate chips (optional)
Directions

1Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2Grease glass pan with cooking spray.

3Grind flax seeds in a blender or coffee grinder.

4This will yield about 1/3 cup of flax seed meal.

5Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl and mix.

6(do not include fillers yet).

7Add wet ingredients and mix well with your hands.

8You may need to add a little more honey if it doesn't seem to be sticking together.

9Add whatever you want to flavor your granola bars.

10Suggestions: dried fruit, raisins, nuts, baking chips (chocolate, white chocolate, peanut butter, butterscotch -- ) I usually add chocolate chips and sliced almonds.

11Continue to mix well with hands.

12Dump mixture into your greased pan and spread out flat.

13(If using a 9x13 pan, the mixture will not reach all the sides.

14It doesn't really matter as long as it's flat.

15The edges just won't be perfect --.

16Bake until it's just starting to turn golden on top.

17It will be puffy and soft.

18This will take 15 - 20 minutes.

19Check often, and don't overcook.

20Cut while still warm and let cool a few minutes in the pan.

21When hard enough to move, place on wire racks to cool completely.

22Store in paper bags.
