  • 3 (17 oz.) cans party green peas (LeSueur preferred)
  • 2 (4 oz.) cans mushrooms (stems and pieces)
  • 1 (4 1/2 oz.) pkg. slivered almonds
  • 1 small onion, minced
  • pimiento strips
  • 1/2 c. margarine, melted
  • 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp. salt
  • 4 c. milk

Directions

    Make white sauce by combining margarine, flour, salt and milk. Cook over medium heat until thickened. Drain peas and mushrooms. Place in 9 x 13-inch casserole with onion and almonds. Pour sauce over peas. Garnish with pimiento strips. Bake at 300° for 30 minutes.
