- 9 c. flour
- 1/2 c. instant grits
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 3/4 c. Crisco oil
- 1 pt. water
- 1/2 c. dry milk
- 3 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 2/3 c. water
Directions

1Cook grits in 1 2/3 cups boiling water for 3 minutes.

2Let cool completely.

3Combine 1 pint lukewarm water with yeast and 1/3 cup sugar.

4Let stand until bubbly.

5Add Crisco, oil and grits.

6Sift flour, dry milk and salt.

7Combine with previous ingredients and let rise.

8Knead down.

9Divide into 8 well-greased coffee cans. Let rise.

10Bake in 375° oven for 35 minutes.

11Makes great toast!
