  • 2 lb. chopped gumdrops
  • 1 c. sugar
  • 1 c. butter
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 1 1/2 c. applesauce
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 lb. raisins
  • 1 1/2 c. nutmeats
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in hot water

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Add 2 cups flour, seasonings, eggs and baking soda.

    Sift 2 cups flour over fruit and gumdrops.

    Add to mixture.

    Bake 2 hours in angel food cake pan at 325°.

    Put pan of water in oven for moisture.
