- 5 1/4 to 5 3/4 c. flour
- 1/2 c. warm water
- 2 pkg. dry yeast
- 1 1/2 c. lukewarm milk
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 c. shortening
Directions

1Soak yeast in 1/2 cup warm water (105° to 115°).

2Combine milk, sugar and salt.

3Beat in shortening-yeast mixture and 2 cups flour with mixer.

4Add remaining flour and mix in.

5Knead 5 to 10 minutes until smooth.

6Cover and let raise until double, 30 to 40 minutes. Punch down.

7Shape into rolls or hamburger buns.

8Place on well-greased baking sheet.

9Let rise 30 to 40 minutes.

10Bake at 425° for 12 to 15 minutes.

11Yields 3 dozen dinner size rolls or 1 1/2 dozen hamburger buns.
