- 1 c. cornmeal
- 2 c. milk
- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1/4 c. warm tap water
- 3/4 c. milk, scalded
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp. salt
- 3 beaten eggs
- 6 c. flour
Directions

1Make a mush by cooking cornmeal in 2 c. milk; stir until milk is gone and meal is thick (burns easily), set aside to cool.

2Add scalded milk and water to a large bowl; add yeast and sugar.

3Let stand about 10 minutes.

4Mix other ingredients, adding the mush with the beaten eggs.

5This is a fairly stick dough.

6Use plenty of flour on a cloth to knead.

7Let rise.

8Roll out and cut in strips.

9Tie strips into knots and dip in melted butter.

10Let them rise.

11Bake at 350 degrees.

12Keeps well and reheats well.
