Ingredients

  • 1 c. hot water
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast (2 tbsp.)
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoon sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon thyme
  • 3/4 teaspoon dill
  • 1/2 teaspoon rosemary
  • 1 tbsp. soft shortening
  • 3 c. flour
  • Poppy seeds for top

Directions

    Dissolve yeast in water.

    Mix salt, sugar, herbs and shortening.

    Finely shop or possibly grind herbs before adding.

    Blend in 1/2 c. flour.

    Add in remaining flour as needed to create a soft dough.

    Let rise 1 1/2 hrs.

    Form into 18 inch roll.

    Let rise 1 hour.

    Brush with water.

    Sprinkle seeds on top.

    Bake at 425 degrees for 20 to 30 min.
