Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. milk, scalded
  • 4 Tbsp. sugar
  • 4 Tbsp. butter
  • 3 tsp. salt
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 2 tsp. sage
  • 4 tsp. caraway seed
  • 1 Tbsp. poppy seed
  • 1 Tbsp. dried onion
  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 2 eggs
  • 6 to 7 c. flour

Directions

    Dissolve yeast in warm water.

    Mix first 9 ingredients together, then add yeast; add eggs and gradually add flour.

    Knead until smooth and let rise until doubled.

    Punch down and divide into 2 loaf pans.

    Let rise and then bake at 350° for about 30 minutes.
