Herb Vegetable Soup

Ingredients
- 1 tsp. minced savory
- 1/2 tsp. dill seed
- 1/4 tsp. minced marjoram
- 2 1/2 c. stewed tomatoes
- 1 tsp. sugar
- 1 crushed garlic clove
- 2 qt. water
- 4 c. chopped assorted vegetables
- 2/3 c. uncooked long grain rice
- pepper
- salt
Directions

1Mix herbs and add to tomatoes with sugar and garlic.

2Mix well and cover; let stand in refrigerator overnight.

3The next day, add water and vegetables.

4Bring all to a boil.

5Reduce heat and cover; simmer over very low heat for 3 hours.

6Add rice and cook for 20 more minutes.

7Season with salt and pepper to taste.

8Makes 8 to 10 cups.
