- 2 c. raisins
- 1 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 c. flour
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1/2 c. margarine
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. nutmeg
- 1 tsp. cinnamon
- 1/2 c. chopped nuts (optional)
Directions

1Cover raisins with cold water; simmer about 10 minutes.

2Drain and cool.

3Cream the margarine and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time; beat well after each addition.

4Sift dry ingredients; add to creamed mixture and mix well.

5Add raisins and nuts; fold in thoroughly.

6Batter will be stiff.

7Pour into greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.

8Bake at 350° for 35 minutes. Cool in pan; cut into 24 squares.
