Holiday Fruit Compote

Ingredients

  • 3 cups diced apples
  • 1 cup cranberries
  • 1 navel orange, zested, peeled and coarsely chopped
  • 12 cup chopped sugar plum
  • 12 cup chopped apricot
  • 13 cup sugar
  • 14 cup water
  • 14 cup lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 12 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Directions

    Place all ingredients in a small crock pot (3 quart).

    If using more dried fruit, add a bit more water.

    If using more fresh fruit, add a bit less water.

    Cook on low for 4-6 hours (more time if smoother product desired).

    Mash to a desired consistency with a potato masher.

    Serve by itself or over ice cream, angel food cake or add to morning yogurt.

    Also works as a basting sauce for roast poultry.
