- 1 c. shortening
- 3 eggs
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 c. blackberry jam
- 3 c. sifted flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1 c. raisins
- 1 c. coconut
- 1 c. chopped dates
- 1 large apple, grated
Directions

1Cream shortening and sugar; add eggs and mix well.

2Add jam and buttermilk alternating with flour and soda.

3Add fruit and nuts last.

4Stir well.

5Bake in three greased and floured 9-inch pans for 30 to 40 minutes at 350°.

6Frost with filling for jam cake.
