- 1 c. milk
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 Tbsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. minced onion
- 2 tsp. leaf sage, crumbled
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 2 envelopes active dry yeast
- 4 1/2 c. sifted flour
Directions

1Scald milk with sugar, salt, onion and butter.

2Cool to lukewarm.

3In a large mixing bowl, sprinkle yeast into warm water; stir until dissolved, then stir in a cooled milk mixture.

4Stir in flour and sage until well blended, then beat with a wooden spoon about 100 strokes.

5Dough will be sticky and heavy.

6Cover with a clean towel; let rise in a warm place, away from drafts, for about 1 hour or until doubled.

7Stir down.
