Homemade Appetizer Tree

Ingredients
- 100 grams flour, all-purpose
- 1/4 teaspoon salt or to taste
- 50 grams butter chilled
- 1 large egg yolks beaten
- 50 millilitres water cooled
- 1/2 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic chopped
- 1 tablespoon red onion chopped
- 50 grams smoked salmon crumbled
- 25 grams mashed potatoes
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt to taste
- 1/2 large eggs beaten
- 75 grams potatoes peeled and boiled
- 30 grams butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 18 teaspoon white pepper
- 1 drop food coloring green
Directions

1First, make the dough: Sift the flour.

2Place the flour and salt in a large bowl.

3Mix.

4Rub the butter into the flour with your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.

5Next add approximately 1/2 of an egg yolk and the water.

6Mix well using your hands.

7Try to work quickly.

8Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and chill for 10 -15 minutes.

9Now take the chilled dough and roll out into a large rectangle that is about 18 inch thick, using a rolling pin.

10Cut the dough into long strips 1/2 inch width.

11You should have 8 strips*.

12Now roll each dough strip around a metal tube (see photo this will be the trunk of your trees).

13Before using the metal tubes, brush them with butter or oil.

14Size of the tube should be about 2 1/2 inch height and 1 inch diameter.

15Place tubes on an oiled baking tray (if you can, place them in a vertical position).

16After that, take the remaining 1/2 egg and brush over dough .

17Bake at 200 cup for 10 minutes or until golden brown.

18When done, slide the tubes out and allow the tree trunks to cool.

19Next, in a pan heat 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil over medium high heat.

20Add garlic and saute until slightly softened.

21Next add onion, salmon, and prepared (or leftover) mashed potatoes.

22Mix until onion is softened and everything is heated through.

23Add pepper and salt.

24Mix well.

25Put into a piping bag (or a Ziplock bag with the corner cut off).

26Now take the baked tubes and pipe some of the filling mixture into the middle of the tubes.

27After that decorate with colored mashed potatoes.

28For the garnish: Take your potatoes, peel and boil them, covered with water, until potatoes are fork tender.

29Drain the water.

30Squash the potato with a potato masher or mixer.

31Add butter salt, white pepper and green food coloring.

32Mix well.

33Put the colored mashed potato mixture into another piping bag and pipe it on top of the filled tree trunks in the shape of leaves and place the dough flowers on the top.
