- 1 lb. pea navy beans
- 2 pieces celery, diced
- 1/4 lb. lean ham, diced
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 carrots, diced
- 1 large onion, diced
- 3 Tbsp. butter or margarine
Directions

1Rinse beans thoroughly.

2Put beans in a large cooking pan. Cover with water, about 3/4 to the top of the pan. Add carrots, celery, onion and ham. Cook on medium heat about 1 1/2 hours.

3Add butter, salt and pepper.

4Cook 1 hour longer or until beans are done.

5You can cook with lid on or off pan.

6You may need to add more water while cooking.

7Add more water to make as thin as you want the juice to be.
