- 1 c. lukewarm water
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 pkg. yeast
- 3 Tbsp. sugar
- 1 heaping Tbsp. salt
- 4 Tbsp. shortening
- 1 c. warm water
- enough flour to thicken (about 4 1/2 to 5 c.)
Directions

1Mix the first 3 ingredients; let stand 5 minutes.

2Be sure water is not hot.

3Add remaining ingredients.

4Let set until it rises (double in size).

5Pour onto floured board; knead about 8 minutes.

6This can be put in refrigerator and covered.

7You may use small amounts at a time.
