Ingredients

  • 5 c. self-rising flour (do not sift)
  • 2 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/4 c. shortening
  • 1/4 c. lukewarm water (to dissolve yeast)
  • 1/2 c. buttermilk, warmed
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar

Directions

    Work together all ingredients.

    Knead and place in greased bowl.

    Cover with dish towel and let rise for 2 to 3 hours. Pinch off, dip into melted margarine.

    Bake on greased pan for about 10 minutes or until brown at 425°.
