Hot Five Bean Salad

Ingredients

  • 8 slices bacon
  • 2/3 c. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1 lb. can each (2 c. drained): kidney beans, cut green beans, green lima beans and cut wax beans
  • dash of pepper
  • 3/4 c. vinegar
  • 1/2 c. water

Directions

    In large skillet, cook bacon until crisp.

    Drain, reserving 1/4 cup drippings.

    Salt and pepper; blend into drippings.

    Stir in vinegar and water; cook and stir until boiling.

    Stir in all beans.

    Cover and simmer 15 to 20 minutes.

    Turn into serving dish.

    Crumble bacon on top.

    Serves 10 to 12.
