- 2 pkg. yeast
- 1/2 c. lukewarm water
- 1 1/2 c. scalded milk
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 c. shortening
- 2 eggs
- 5 1/2 c. sifted flour
Directions

1Soften yeast in water; add sugar, salt and shortening to the scalded milk and let cool to lukewarm.

2Add about 2 cups of the flour to milk mixture.

3Beat thoroughly and then add the softened yeast and beaten eggs.

4Add more flour to make a soft dough (approximately 3 1/2 cups).

5Turn onto a lightly floured board and knead until smooth.

6Place in a lightly greased bowl and brush the top of the dough with shortening.

7Dough may now be placed in refrigerator and stored for future use or let it rise until doubled in bulk.
