Ingredients

  • 2 pkg. yeast
  • 2 1/2 c. warm water
  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 3/4 c. sugar
  • 2 beaten eggs
  • 8 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 Tbsp. salt

    Boil 1 cup water and 3/4 cup shortening until the shortening melts.

    In mixing bowl, add 1 1/2 cups water, sugar and salt; mix. Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water.

    Beat egg and add to water mixture; mix well.

    Sift 4 cups flour and add to the mixture. Measure 4 1/2 cups more flour and add enough to make a soft dough. Put in greased bowl; cover and let rise 2 to 3 times.

    Make rolls and place in greased pan.

    Let rise again; bake for 30 minutes at 350°.
