Ingredients
- 1 lb. ground beef
- 1 lb. ground pork
- 1 1/2 c. cornmeal
- 1/4 c. flour
- 3/4 c. tomatoes, mashed
- 3 Tbsp. chili powder
- 5 medium garlic cloves
- 2 Tbsp. salt
- 2 large cans tomato juice
- 1 tsp. salt
Directions

1Mix together ground meats, cornmeal, flour, tomatoes, chili powder, garlic and 2 tablespoons salt.

2Form mixture into small balls the size of a large marble.

3In a large roaster, pour in tomato juice and remaining salt.

4Let simmer for 10 minutes.

5Drop in tamale balls and let cook for 2 hours. Check sauce during cooking and add tomato juice or water, if needed.

6Remove balls from sauce and serve.

7Makes about 100 balls.
