- 3/4 c. cornmeal
- 2 c. boiling water
- oil for frying
Directions

1Place cornmeal in a large bowl.

2Pour in boiling water gradually, stirring until no dry cornmeal is visible.

3Let stand until cool.

4Shape into balls; flatten slightly.

5Fry in 1/4 inches hot oil in a cast-iron skillet until brown on both sides, turning once.

6Serve with turnip greens or other vegetables.

7May add additional boiling water for thinner batter consistency to drop from spoon into hot oil.
