  • 15 ounces garbanzo beans, drained
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 3 dashes hot pepper sauce
  • 14 cup onion, chopped
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 2 teaspoons cooking oil
  • 12 cup sesame seeds, toasted
  • 14 cup tahini paste (sesame seed paste)
  • 14 cup green pepper, chopped
  • 4 pita bread rounds (small)
  • 1 12 cups lettuce, shredded
  • 1 12 cups feta cheese, crumbled
  • 1 medium tomatoes, chopped
  • 12 cup ripe olives, drained and sliced

    Preheat oven to 350.

    Drain beans, reserving 3 tablespoons liquid.

    Place beans, liquid, lemon juice, and pepper sauce in a blender container or food processor.

    Cover and blend or process until pureed.

    Cook onion and garlic in oil until tender.

    Stir together the bean mixture, onion mixture, sesame seed, tahini, and green pepper.

    Split pita rounds horizontally and bake 5 minutes.
