Ingredients

  • 6 c. milk
  • 6 heaping Tbsp. cornstarch
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 2 c. milk
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 2 c. white sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. brown sugar (more if desired)
  • 3 c. or more cream
  • 1 Tbsp. vanilla

    Heat milk.

    Put together cornstarch and salt with 2 cups milk. Add to hot milk; stir until slightly thick, but do not boil! Pour hot milk over the beaten eggs and sugar; cool.

    When ready to freeze, add cream and vanilla.

    Pour into freezer through a sieve. Add more milk if it isn't 3/4 full.

    Makes 1 1/2 gallons.
