Ingredients
- 1 1/2 c. shortening (Wesson oil, butter or margarine)
- 1 1/2 c. white sugar
- 1 1/2 c. brown sugar (may be all white)
- 4 eggs
- 5 c. sifted flour (plain)
- 1 tsp. soda
- 3 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. each: allspice, cinnamon and nutmeg
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. nuts, chopped well (if desired)
Directions

1Cream shortening and sugars.

2Add well beaten eggs.

3Add flour, soda, baking powder and spices, sifted together.

4If nuts are used, add to mixture after flouring.

5Knead well on floured board. Divide into several portions.

6Roll and chill.

7Slice thinly.

8Bake in a 325° to 350° oven for about 10 to 15 minutes.

9You may freeze these rolls of cookie dough and cook as you wish at later dates.
