- 1 cake yeast
- 1/4 to 1/2 c. sugar
- 1/2 c. boiling water
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/3 c. lukewarm water
- 1/2 c. shortening
- 1/2 c. cold water
- 3 c. unsifted flour
Directions

1Dissolve yeast in lukewarm water with 1 teaspoon sugar.

2Cream remaining sugar and shortening.

3Pour boiling water over mixture. Add cold water, egg and yeast mixture.

4Stir in flour and salt; mix well.

5Refrigerate overnight.

6Place the portions of dough to be used on floured board and shape as desired or roll.

7Dip rolls in melted butter and place in pan.

8Let rise at room temperature until double in size.

9Bake at 400° to 425° for 12 minutes.
