Ingredients
- 2 cakes yeast or envelopes
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 egg
- 6 to 7 c. flour (rolls are better if dough is not too thick)
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 2 c. lukewarm water
- 3 Tbsp. shortening (do not use oil)
Directions

1Crumble yeast into large mixing bowl; add sugar, salt and water.

2Add well beaten egg.

3Sift flour once before measuring. Add one-half of flour and beat well.

4Add melted shortening and mix in remainder of flour.

5Punch down; cover tightly and place in refrigerator.

6Rolls are much better second and third days than on first day.

7Dough also works much easier if thoroughly chilled before using.

8Bake at 350° to 375° for 25 to 30 minutes or until light brown.
