Ingredients

  • 1/4 c. plus 1 Tbsp. shortening or lard
  • 1/4 c. sugar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 c. milk
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 pkg. dry yeast
  • 1/2 c. warm water
  • 3 c. flour

Directions

    Combine lard, sugar, salt and milk in saucepan; warm to melt lard.

    Cool to lukewarm and beat in egg.

    Dissolve yeast in warm water

    and add to milk mixture.

    Add flour a cup at a time, beating

    after each addition.

    Do all this in a covered casserole dish.

    Grease top of dough ball and cover. Store in refrigerator overnight. Make into clover leaf rolls by making 1-inch

    balls and putting 3 in each greased muffin tin.

    Cover and let rise about an hour.

    Bake at 350° for about 15 minutes or until done. Makes 1 1/2 to 2 dozen rolls.
