  • 2 gal. crock sliced cucumbers
  • 1 pt. salt
  • alum
  • 2 1/2 qt. vinegar
  • 16 c. sugar
  • pickling spices

    Slice cucumbers lengthwise to fill a two-gallon crock. Dissolve salt in one gallon of boiling water.

    Pour salt water over cucumbers.

    Cover and let stand one week; drain.
