  • 1 (1 lb.) piece lean bacon or smoked pork shoulder
  • 3 qt. water
  • freshly ground black pepper and salt to taste
  • 3 lb. tender greens

Directions

    Put pork in a pot with the water.

    Add a few grinds of black pepper; bring to a boil, cover and simmer 1 hour.

    Taste broth and add additional pepper and salt if needed.
