  • 3/4 c. shortening
  • 2 c. sugar
  • 1 1/2 c. boiling water
  • 2 c. flour
  • 2 tsp. soda
  • 1/2 c. cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

    Put shortening and sugar in mixing bowl; cover with boiling water.

    Sift dry ingredients and add to hot mixture.

    Then add eggs and vanilla.

    Pour into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 35 to 45 minutes.
