  • 1/2 cup chopped salt pork
  • 1 md. onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup sliced celery
  • 1/2 md. green bell pepper, diced
  • 1-1/2 cup diced potatoes
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 lg. bay leaf
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4 tbsp. all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup light cream
  • 2 cups corn, cut fresh from cob

Directions

    Brown salt pork in heavy saucepan; add onion and cook for three minutes.

    Add next six ingredients.

    Simmer until potatoes are tender.

    Mix flour with a little milk; add that and the remaining milk to potato mixture.

    Add cream and corn; heat gently.
