- 1/4 c. margarine or butter
- 1/2 c. sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 c. buttermilk (at room temperature)
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. baking soda
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 c. raisins
- sugar (for top of bread)
Directions

1Cream together the butter, sugar and egg.

2Add the buttermilk and blend.

3Sift together the dry ingredients and add them to the buttermilk mixture.

4Stir in the raisins.

5Bake in a greased 8-inch or 9-inch round cake pan at 350° for 40 to 50 minutes. Sprinkle lightly with sugar before baking.

6Serves 8.
