- 2 c. white flour
- 4 tsp. baking powder
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1 Tbsp. sugar
- 3 Tbsp. vegetable shortening or butter
- 2/3 c. milk
- 1/2 c. raisins
- 1 Tbsp. caraway seed
Directions

1Preheat oven to 375°.

2Grease 9-inch round loaf pan.

3Put the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar in a large bowl.

4Work in the shortening with a pastry blender, then quickly stir in milk.

5Add the raisins and caraway seed, stirring just enough to distribute them evenly.

6Turn out onto a lightly floured board and knead about 20 times.

7Put the dough in the pan and bake for 20 to 30 minutes. Cut into wedges and serve.
