- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup shortening
- 1/4 cup butter or margarine
- 1 cup raisins
- 1 1/4 cups milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
Directions

1Combine first 4 ingredients in a bowl. Cut shortening and butter into flour mixture with a pastry blender or fork until mixture is crumbly. Stir in raisins.

2Whisk together milk, eggs, and vinegar; add to flour mixture, stirring just until moistened. Pour batter into a greased 10 1/2-inch cast-iron skillet.

3Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes.

4NOTE: Bread also may be baked in 2 greased 8-inch round cakepans for 30 to 35 minutes.
