- 1 stick margarine
- 1/2 c. Crisco
- 2 c. sugar
- 5 egg yolks
- 2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 tsp. vanilla
- 1 small can coconut
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 5 egg whites, stiffly beaten
Directions

1Cream margarine and shortening.

2Add sugar and beat until smooth.

3Add egg yolks; beat well.

4Combine flour and soda and add to creamed mixture alternately with buttermilk.

5Stir in vanilla. Add coconut and chopped nuts.

6(I use walnuts or pecans.)

7Fold in egg whites.

8Bake in 3 (8-inch) pans greased and floured.

9Cover with cream cheese frosting.
