Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 c. butter or oleo
  • 1 1/2 c. sugar
  • 6 eggs, beaten
  • 1 1/2 c. flour
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 bottle cherries, chopped
  • 1 c. nuts, chopped
  • 1 c. raisins
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 1 tsp. baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp. cocoa
  • 6 or 7 cherries, chopped

Directions

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Add beaten eggs and jam (your choice).

    Sift dry ingredients together.

    Add (alternating) buttermilk, creamed butter, sugar and dry ingredients, then add raisins, nuts and cherries.

    Pour into 3 greased and floured cake pans.

    Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes or until done in the center.
