  • 2 c. brown sugar
  • 1 c. butter
  • 1 c. buttermilk
  • 4 c. plain flour
  • 1 tsp. soda (level)
  • 5 eggs, beaten
  • 2 c. jam
  • 1 c. any kind preserves
  • 1 tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp. cloves
  • 1 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 c. nuts

    Cream butter and sugar.

    Sift flour and measure, then sift flour, soda and spices together.

    Add flour mixture to butter and sugar; add buttermilk.
