- 2 c. sugar
- 1 c. butter
- 5 eggs
- 2 1/2 c. flour
- 1 tsp. soda
- 1 c. buttermilk
- 1 c. chopped dates
- 1 c. chopped nuts
- 1 c. jam (any kind)
- 1 1/2 tsp. cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tsp. allspice
- 1 1/2 tsp. cloves
- 1/2 tsp. salt
Directions

1Cream butter and sugar.

2Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each one.

3Sift flour and spices together.

4Dissolve soda in buttermilk.

5Add flour mixture and buttermilk alternately.

6Mix well.

7Add dates, nuts and jam.

8Stir well to distribute evenly. Bake in tube pan that is lined with greased, heavy brown paper or in loaf pans for 1 hour or until cake springs back when you press on it.

9Bake at 325° or 350°.
