- 2/3 c. butter
- 1/3 c. sugar
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
- 3/4 c. walnuts
- 2 egg whites
- 1 tsp. vanilla
Directions

1Cream together butter and sugar until fluffy.

2Add egg yolks, vanilla and salt; beat well.

3Gradually add flour, mixing well. Shape into 3/4-inch balls; dip in 2 slightly beaten egg whites, then roll in finely chopped walnuts lightly covering ball.

4Place 1 inch apart on greased cookie sheet.

5Press down center of each ball with thumb.

6Bake at 350° for 15 to 17 minutes.

7Let cool, then add cherry or strawberry preserves in center.
