Ingredients

  • 1 small chopped onion
  • 1 lb. chopped beef or chicken
  • 1 large (35 oz.) can peeled tomatoes
  • 1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas
  • 1/2 tsp. oregano
  • 2 Tbsp. olive oil
  • salt and pepper
  • Romano or Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 lb. pasta (medium shells)

Directions

    In a saucepan, saute onions in olive oil until softened.

    Add the chicken or beef and brown over medium heat.

    Put tomatoes through a mill and add to mixture.

    Season to taste.

    Simmer uncovered approximately 20 minutes.

    Add peas, lower heat and cook an additional 10 minutes.

    Cook and drain pasta according to directions.

    Toss pasta with sauce, sprinkle with cheese and serve. Yields 4 servings.
